Merry Christmas Everyone! Here is my uber super secret Christmas Card. Just in time for some Holiday cheer for you and yours.
I just want to give you some insight into the planning process of making my Christmas cards this year. I found a stamp set that I love and wanted to incorporate into the cards this year. Then it is making sure I order the stamp set in enough time to get them out. I was a huge procrastinator about it this year. So during the process of planning what the actual card would become I created the 6 or 7 cards that you saw in the previous weeks. Then when the plan is completely hatched it comes down to designing it just the way I want it. I tried several ways to do the background the one you see in the heading is done with sponging and stamps from the Beautiful Blizzard set. The ones that I had originally done were done with a technique that I learned from a fellow demonstrator. It just uses the edge of your stamp pads on whisper white paper and not completely covering the white paper. I used Balmy Blue and Pacific Point for my background. You literally just rub the end of the pad on the paper. One thing I learned after creating what I thought was enough I re-inked my ink pads. I found I need to create about 10 more. This became a huge problem as you can see in the picture below. A juicy ink pad is not always a wonderful thing.
So after the above fiasco, I decided to go with the following background using Beautiful Blizzard and sponges for the extra that I had to send out.
Here are the original designs that I did when I finally figured out what I wanted to do.
I wanted to try adding some of the framelits from Home Sweet Home diecut set but thought it was too busy for the simple design I was looking for.
I also learned while doing these cards that using whisper white craft ink will ultimately turn into a lighter color of what you put it on. Not that I did not know this but somehow forgot when making my cards. I made a few and went back in the morning to check how they dried and was slightly disappointed in that fact.
The moon that Santa is flying over is also a funny story. Most scrappers and card makers would mask the “moon” with something. I, however, forgot to do this on most of the cards. So what is the next best thing? A punch. Thanks right I used the 1-inch circle punch and turned it around then stamped Santa and his reindeer on top of the circle. I am so grateful to have all the supplies I need when creating my cards.
Thank you all of you! My blog followers and my customers. You make being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator so much fun. Here’s to another wonderful year to come. Saleabration is just around the corner.
Have a wonderful Christmas and hope you had a Happy Hanukkah.
Speaking of Hanukkah I have few friends that are Jewish and so I made cards just for them. Check it out.
This card is a shaker card and made completely from the Cricut. I did not design it. It was a premade design from the Cricut Design software. The insides are the silicone beads from packing materials. So if your a crafter save them and use them in shaker cards. If you want them colored you can use alcohol inks to color them. What awesome reuse of material. The rest of the cards is made with Cricut Chip Board (2M) I also used the Cricut blue glitter paper here. I have the Cricut Maker with the Knife blade and this was my first time using it. I thought it was pretty cool. A little time consuming but the results are so worth it.
Again Happy Holidays,
Amy
