All About Layering Stencil edition

The All About Layering Stencil edition was a wonderful class. (psst the class is free too) Yes, I know how to use the stencils but this class gives you so many other ideas on just what those stencils can do for you. Jaycee’s lesson in this class was my inspiration for this card. My other inspiration was that my mother stated to me that my cards are no longer full of texture since I switched to other companies. So I had to show her how you do that with Altenew.

The Card

I used the same color scheme Jaycee used in his card. I did not use the same stencil or the paper background that he used since I did not have them. I am still very happy with how it came out. I hope my mother appreciates it just as much.

 

I used the Autumn watercolor brush markers to add color to my embossing paste. I love the versatility of these markers. I started with the first layer of the Golden Days stencil using a touch of Rouge color to my paste and worked it in the opening then allowed it to dry enough that I could add the next layer. I continued doing this with each stencil and changing up the colors just a bit by adding Citrus Burst to the subsequent 2 layers the last layer was done with Rouge. My center was done with the Paper bag color and black. Once I got my flower completed I set it aside to completely dry.

My background paper is done with a leaf embossing folder and used blending brushes with the Shabby Shutters and Pine Needles colors from Tim Holtz distressed oxide inks.

 

My sentiment and some of the flower petals have bits of rose color foil on them. I used glue that dries tacky and then gave a good rub on the foil to make it stick.
