First I would like to start my post by saying thank you to you, my readers. I am proud to announce that I have passed the Level One classes of the Altenew Education Certification Program. I am now a certified Level One Educator.
Now on to the next set of classes to achieve Level Two. The Beautiful Details class was awe-inspiring and for me, I was also a bit apprehensive. I loved her first lesson the most. I wanted to recreate something similar with a flower, unfortunately, I did not have a flower stamp that would work the technique.
I choose to use a free stamp that I got from Altenew called Butterfly Kisses. This stamp has enough surface area to make the brush strokes stand out. Then I was able to add details in the center with some markers that I had on hand.
My main butterfly image is stamped in first-generation stamping, then second-generation stamping. I “flicked” the marker of basic gray on the stamp and stamped with it. You see the lines in the image it is kinda cool and definitely looks intentional like you drew it that way. After I got the main image stamped I used a range of grays for the center and flicked the lines even more for shading purposes. My grays were Smoky Slate, Gray Granite, and Basic Gray. The center of the butterfly I stamped as normal using black ink. The flicks of color were created with the Altenew Watercolor brush makers colors Evening Gray, Metalic Silver, and Jet Black. I also spruced up the look with some glimmery adhesive dots from a craft subscription box I had left over. The other silent but beautiful piece of the card is the center embossed image. I used a die from a retired Hey Chick from Stampin Up! I embossed it three times in the center not necessarily even either. I did not want it to be perfect but a bit random.
