Black Ice and Rooted in Nature!! Can I just say WOW! I love this technique. I loved Melissa’s cards so much but I wanted to do something a little different with it. I have plenty of the Foil paper left over from Stampin’ Up!’s Saleabration so I thought I would do a little different spin on a wonderful card. First I would like to say thanks to Melissa for the inspiration. You can check out her cards here link here.
On these cards, I did brown Stazon which is not listed in the product list (purchased from Hobby Lobby) I also used a retired foil.
Let’s take a closer look at the cards.
In case you missed how to use your embossing folder here is a quick video on this technique.
I also wanted to do another one that was gray and black but I was out of silver foil paper … OH MY yes I know something you should not be out of. hehe, I saw one from Debbie with a bit of blue color on it. I was in love with the pop of color. Check out Debbies card here. So I went searching my ribbon drawer and I had some of the Merry Merlot and Copper ribbon left from the Holiday Catalog. Perfect for the card. So this is what I came up with.
Now for a closer look.
Hubs did not want to use the bow on the card, I veto the idea of no bow. It looks so much better. I am sure his mom will love it. Using my blends I colored in the flowers before I did the versa mark and embossing powder. Unfortunately, I used too much versamark and there was not really a difference to give it the ice effect that I was looking for. I still think it is stunning and the whole thing looks frozen in time.
For these projects, this is what I used.
[…] Frosted Foliage was a perfect choice when my new Demonstrator friends here in North Carolina asked me to demonstrate how to do the Black Ice technique recently. If you missed how to do the Black Ice technique you read about that here. […]
