Welcome to the NC Blog Hop. I hope you are enjoying your Sunday. If you just came from Dawn’s post, I am sure you realized this month is all about SALEBRATION!! Hop along with me to find some great ideas on what you can do with all that free stuff. If you are like me, you got more than one free item during SALEBRATION. Now what to do with it all. So let us hop along.
So the first month of Salebration is coming to a close. All of my customers who ordered this month, so far, ordered the Darling Donkeys as one of their Salebration items. So I thought to myself, well, I have to get some ideas out to them to get them excited about what they have coming in their boxes. So I created these two cute cards. One is simple stamping and a cut out using a die but other than that, it is pretty simple. The other one is a bit more for the avid crafter. Of course, I could not help myself when it came to the Lots of heart bundle.
It all started when I started cutting out all the dies that came with the bundle. I wanted to see what they do. Some cut out hearts in a certain way, so would it be used on a card front, or would I even be able to use the cutouts as well in another fashion? So when doing this, the idea came to me looking at each individual cut out. I wanted to take a picture of what everything did, but I got so excited to make the card I did not have the pieces left over to show you.
So here they are.
My first one is straightforward. I cut out hearts and stamp some hearts as well. Layering them together and popping my sweet little Donkey atop of them. The Lots of Heart bundle sentiment is just perfect for the look on that Donkey’s face.
My color scheme came from the Sahara Sand color coach from Stampin’ Up! I would have never put Sahara Sand and Merry Merlot together. I do like the petal pink and rococo rose with Merry Merlot. You can see that in a prior post where I did a painter’s tape technique.
My second card is a bit more for the avid cardmaker. I did some dry embossing with the pinewood planks folder, ruffed up the edges, and tore the paper. I also added ink to the raised parts and distressed them a bit. I was going for a farmhouse-style look, not sure I got it, but I like the card either way. There are lots of die-cut images on this card. Using the adhesive sheets with the cut-outs made putting the card together a breeze.
My little Donkeys are not colored in all the way. I actually just went around the image with the dark crumb cake and then again with the light crumb cake; once I had that done, I used the blender pen to blend. However, I did color the entire flower he is carrying in his mouth with the Stampin’ write markers. I used Gray blends and Black blends for the hooves, and I forgot to add that to the list.
Thank you for hopping along with me today. You can catch the next blog by clicking below or jump around with the list just below. Be sure to check out Jo Anne’s blog next. I am sure she has something just as spectacular as the last.

That little donkey is one of my favorites too! I love that you showed a simple card and a stepped up card, I need to remember to start doing that. And how you used many of the die cuts on your card stepped up card. I need to also start cutting out all my dies so I know exactly what I have to play with! Thanks for sharing 🙂

Amy – Your cards are really great and so off the cute Darling Donkey perfectly! It was fun to see how you used the same image on the simpler card and then on the stepped-up card. I honestly don’t know which card I like better. And, I peeked at your cards with the Painter’s Tape technique. Oh my, they are gorgeous!!
