Dear Doily

I am a girl who just loves the Dear Doily stamp set. I have no idea why. Growing up in the ’70s my grandmother sewed lace on my pants at the pockets and at the bottom of the legs. To me, the doilies symbolize all that lace that I could not get enough of growing up. I was so obnoxious about the lace I even wanted it on my panties, especially when wearing a dress that way if they were spotted while I was sitting on the floor of the gym all they would see was all that lace. I can chuckle about it now but I am sure my family was not so happy with it.

We have a vacation for the Color Challenge that I follow on Facebook. They decided that they would do one for the summer that will end in February 13th. So I decided to get her done so I could enjoy the holiday with my hubby. Below is the colors that seems to be the favorite of the group. Challange is to come up with a card using 2 or more colors.

Here is the card I came up with using the Dear Doily bundle from Stampin’ Up!.

1. I used the Rectangle Stitched Framelits to cut out my Coastal Cabana in the largest of the rectangles. (5 1/2 x 4 1/4 )
2. I took a piece of Whisper White and sponged Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, and Gorgeous Grape onto the cardstock. Then cut it out with the second to the largest rectangle. (5 1/4 x 4 1/4) Do not discard leftover piece.
3. I then stamped from the Dear Doily Stamp set in Blackberry Bliss some of the Doilies around the sponged cardstock.
4. I then spritzed it with some water to give it a bit of texture and watercolored appearance.
5. I cut out the sentiment from the Well Said stamp set with one of the smaller of the rectangles sponging a bit of the gorgeous grape around it. It was stamped with Blackberry Bliss.
6. I cut out in Gorgeous Grape and Bermuda bay some of the doilies in the Doily builder framelits and arranged them around the sentiment.
7. I layered all of this onto Blackberry Bliss cardstock.
8. The inside used Gorgeous Grape and Coastal Cabana cardstock to cut out happy birthday from the Well Written die set.
9. I stamped a doily on the inside as well and it had a mix of the colors so it came out a bit veregated.
10. The edge around the wisper white cardstock on the insdie was used from sponge technique that I did earlier using a larger than needed size so there would be a bit left over. I did not want it to go to waste. The whisper white piece here is cut the size of the 2nd to largest rectangle.
