Happy Halloween!!
Better late than never is what they say.
I am so sorry I have been missing in action these few weeks. What is up with me you ask? Well I have been asked to be a guest Artist at my friends “Clean out the Studio event” in November. I have also been asked to make 102 Christmas Cards for one of the local Nursing homes by our church. I also held a class at my home teaching a brayer technique. We created a sunset. All this along with the usual class held at Pelican Park. Thank you to all those who stopped by and for those of you who ordered. Ann was our winner of the Hostess Rewards for the month.
So yes I have been busy. Blogging has been the last thing on my mind. I promise to try to do better, really I do.
So on to today’s creativity. Remember how I promised that I would give you information on how to make some of those cards? Well the winner of the Christmas cards is this one Flurry of Wishes.
This is an Easel card.
- You cut your 8 1/2 x 11 Cardstock to 4 1/4 x 11.
- Then score at 2 3/4 and 5 1/2. This becomes you base.
- You will then cut the front of your card 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 and the second layer is 5 1/4 x 4. The vellum is cut the same size to lay over the second layer.
- The sentiment on front of card is cut at 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 and then the second layer of that is 2 1/4 x 3 1/4. Then I used the Corner punch on all four corners.
- The bottom of the card you will cut your bases 4 1/4 by 2 3/4 and the second layer will be 4 x 2 1/2. When you have this together place this on dimentionals and it will hold your card in the upright position. Unless you choose to use a button or other embellishment to hold it in place.
You will notice I always decrease my layers by 1/4. I think it gives it a clean line and a bit of color. There are some occasions that I choose to do an 1/8 but that is rare for me. It tends to confuse my brain and makes it hurt. LOL Some of my friends say they are too pretty for math.
I will be making 3 cards for the nursing home. This one and the Reason for the Season card with another one to be determined.
For this card you will need the following:
Cardstock/Inks
- Whisper White Cardstock
- Night of Navy Cardstock
- Vellum
- Marina Mist Classic Ink (used in the background of the trees)
- Night of Navy Classic Ink
- Marina Mist Classic Ink
- Momento Black Ink or you can emboss the sentiment
Tools/Stamps
- Woodland Textured Embossing folder
- Flurry of Wishes Stamp Set
- Trio corner punch
- Stickles (non SU)
