Free as a Bird Color Challenge

Free as a bird was all I could think about when I was trying to figure this challenge out. I got my inspiration from Rachel. Unfortunately, the card I used did not show up on her blog. If you would like to check out her others click here.

Rococo Rose, Seaside Spray, and Gold Foil

Playing with these colors (some of my favorites growing up) was a challenge for me and the sets that I had to work with. Then it hit me a beautiful bluebird from Free as a Bird. A blue cardinal from one of my sneak peeks has been a huge success on Pintrest so I thought why not with these cute little birds? You can check out my blue cardinal here.

The card

Free as a bird very vanilla lace and 3D tin tile embossing folder

This beauty was created with the 3D Tin Tile embossing folder and versamark. I put versamark on my embossing folder and then ran it through my embossing machine. Then using gold embossing powder and heat set it. The trick with this is not to put too much versamark over the embossing folder. You really do not want to cover your entire background with the gold you want some of that beautiful card stock’s color to come through.

I stamped the birds from Free as a Bird on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and colored with Stampin’ Blends. I cut them out with the Stitched Nested Dies and sponged around the edge with Rococo Rose ink. Layering it on Crumb Cake cardstock cut with the next size die. After figuring out where to place them I added the scalloped lace ribbon with a linen thread bow (item # 104199 Oops, I forgot to add to the Supply list). I also added a small Stitched Nested Die of Seaside Spray with the sentiment stamped in Black. I topped all this onto a card base of Seaside Spray adding the final touch of some faceted dots to match.

I had pieces leftover of the Rococo Rose embossed with Gold so I decided to use them inside with a few flowers colored with an aqua painter and the Stampin’ Write Markers of Rococo Rose and Seaside Spray. I like to leave all of my insides blank for a personal touch when the recipient has been decided upon.
