My Pampered Pets set is the star of this card. When I made this card, I had no idea I would actually be sending out as soon as I made it. One of my customers, sweet baby, went to the Rainbow Bridge. I read her post the very next day and was like, Oh My!! what sad and tragic news.
A team member inspired the gatefold card. So I took this challenge. Deciding after doing it, this would have to be done as a live demonstration. There was no way I could actually get this down on paper so you would understand me. Haha. I was able to create a graph for you to print out if you choose to. See it below.
The Card
The beauty of this card is that when it opens all the way, you see both sides’ hearts.
I have used several things in this card that has retired. The paper I grabbed was Powder Pink, which was an in-color that was retired last June, I believe.
I love the Pampered Pets set so much. Everything I do with it comes out so sweet.
To put this one together, you will need two card bases cut 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.
You will place them together one Top of one flap inside the other and glue them down. This will leave you 4 1/4 in the middle and on both sides.
At the end of both sides, you will score at 2 1/8. Use your bone folder to burnish them down.
This is where the fun starts. Take any symmetrical die and lay it across both of your gates folds closed. Tape one side down with washi tape. Use a pencil mark to mark where your other side will go.
Run the end with the taped die through the die cutter, so it cuts through both layers. This may take a few times going through. You will then take it off and place the die on the other side and repeat.
That will give you your basic gatefold card with the symmetrical opening in the middle.
The Belly Band
1 x 11 inches I used Magenta Madness scored at 3 5/8 x 8 1/8. I also used red line tape or tear tape to hold this together.
I cut out two ornate borders dies in whisper white with adhesive paper adhered to it. This made for easy placement of the diecut when ready to adhere. No mess as well. Which is always good in my book.
In the video below, I did not create the exact same card, but it defiantly gives you a feel for how you create the card’s bases. I can not wait to see what you come up with.
