So being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator has its advantages and disadvantages. I sometimes itch for something outside of its realm. I have had my eye on this set for a while now and with some birthday money I thought now was the time. This lead me to try the stamp set from Altenew called Beautiful Day. I, of course, purchased the dies that compliment this set along with a few others. When I decided what I wanted to get I purchased a set that had inks with it. Of course, they were cube inks similar to the ones that come in our Paper Pumpkins. I must say I am not so impressed with the inks. They left lots of what looked like water spots on my stamped image. This could be the way I applied the ink and because I was not able to completely cover the stamp with the cube. I even dabbed and swiped across the image. Doing this gave the image streaks across the image. Their stamps on the other hand stamp really well and it is easy to see in this particular one how to match the step images to get the perfect painted flower.
The Card
I used Altenew ink colors on the Pink flower image and Stampin’ Up Colors on the Purple flowers. Let’s take a closer look.
I purchased these colors from Altenew. They are Pink Diamond, Pinkalicious, Rubellite, Razzleberry. They were done in various different layers of color. You can check out these color cubes here. The Green was done with Altenew colors as well they are Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, and Evergreen. I got these in a cube set from Altenew you can check them out here, these include their jet black as well. I just love the detail of these stamps. They are so easy to use.
Here are my Purple flowers are done with Stampin’ Up! colors Highland Heather, Purple Posey, and Petal Pink.
In reality, I am very happy with the stamp sets. My only concern is how to store them so they are not damaged by my critters. They come in a cellophane pouch with two clear pieces of plastic covering them. I may buy some cases for them which would protect them more. The inks I do not think I will purchase again. They are fine for small items and may be better if I purchased a larger sized stamp pad, I already have all that Stampin’ Up! sells so I should be good.
I love the way these flowers complement the other items I have like the Stitched Lace dies and the Brick and Mortar embossing folder. I am sure there are other ways to create some beauties with these flowers. I will just have to keep trying. Check back for more info as I play with these stamps to see what else I can come up with.
