Have you ever caught fireflies when you were a kid? We used to catch them and put them in the mason jars that were leftover from canning that year. It was so much fun to sit and watch then for the evening. We always were told to give them their freedom before we went to sleep. Growing up I always wanted to catch the snowflakes as well. I loved the snow and wanted to play in it when I was a kid. With heart problems plaguing me, it was not possible. I loved it when I got the chance and utterly froze myself because I would not come in. Coming in was always a great reward as well. Just to stand over the heater vent and feel the warm air thawing my toes with a warm cup of cocoa in my hands. Always reminded me of Campbell’s commercial with the kid coming in as a snowman thawing out eating his chicken noodle soup. HA, those were the days.
Here I have for you what I would have liked to do as a child when I was unable to go outside in the snow. I wanted to bottle it up and bring it in. This card captures the essence of that little girl. She still comes out and gets giggly and her eyes sparkle with delight when it snows. I so wish I could bottle or can that feeling and excitement.
I created this one as a Slim Line card. This will fit in any business size envelope.
Card Base is 8 1/2 x 7 inches, scored at 3 1/2 inches.
Second Layer is Night of Navy 8 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches with the Jars punched out.
My Sentiment was stamped in versamark and I used whisper white emboss powder straight to the night of navy cardstock. This sentiment is retired, unfortunately, but I can see so many other good sentiments here.
I took stamped and punched out jars from the Snowflake Splendor DSP and placed them down on the card base. I elevated the night of navy cardstock with dimentionals or foam adhesive strips.
My snowflakes were cut from Balmy Blue Glimmer paper and Vellum. I layered them and placed a blue gem atop them.
This card makes me smile. I actually thought of taking the Jars and using vellum and punching through both the base and the night of navy cardstock. Doing this would make for a nice battery powered tealight underneath it. Hmmm… maybe I will do this too.
I hope I inspired you to get crafty today.
