Today, I have for you the Joseph Coats technique. It is striking. Some can maybe too much black. I think it would be better suited for the fall. I did find that if I only used portions of it on my card, it was much prettier. So I set off to try this technique and came up with the cards below. They are, of course, not all the same style, but all have various sizes of cardstock with the colors that run the same in all the cards. I have chosen Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral, and Highland Heather. I love these colors together; they scream summer and spring. Warm months ahead. We are now finally into the Dog Days of Summer.
This summer is my second summer here in NC. It is HOT, but not nearly as humid as it is down in NOLA. So we have taken up hiking at least once a week. It feels good to get out and stretch after being cooped up in the Tiny house since March and COVID-19 starting. Of course, we have left the house, but not that much. I am hoping to get things back to an even keel buy November as I have places to go and people to see.
I have done a video for you on how to do these lovely cards. I have five creations for you today. The first two I did the Joesph Coats part on the video. Here is how they came out. I was not happy with how it came out initially, so I cut up the pieces and made them work for me.
My next one is a lot of Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I like it, but it is overpowering. I do believe a colored piece of cardstock for the sentiment on this one will make it less daunting.
I did this one with Beauty Abounds stamp set. I thought butterflies would be a beautiful image to use this technique. I do like it, but it too needs a sentiment to help pull out those beautiful colors in the card.
This next one happens to be my favorite. I love this particular image and have not even used it yet. I love the way it came out with this technique. I added a little lace and used the edgelit from the Posey dies (this is not in the supply list) for the Highland Heather piece of cardstock that the flowers sit atop.

I hope you enjoyed today’s cards and will look forward to seeing you real soon.
