Hello again, I am showing you what I learned in the Magical Markers Techniques class today. There were lots of ideas of things you could do. So I tried to combine several of those techniques into one card. I, of course, added a bit of my twist to it too. Check it out below.
One of the techniques I learned in today’s card was stippling with alcohol markers. I had never done it and always wanted to know how they did it. I had always wanted to know how they did that. I was shocked at how easy it was to do. Not nearly as complicated as I thought. First, let’s start with my background.
I started with my glass mat and colored some of the shades of brown from the Rock Garden Set of Alcohol markers from Altenew. I did all four shades. I spritzed them with Isopropyl Alcohol at least 71%, then took Glossy paper, or you could use Yupo paper (any non-porous paper would work) and laid it on top of the spritzed ink. I let that dry, then thought it needed some texture. So I decided to add some with a stencil. So I grabbed an old stencil I had and colored the stencil with the darkest color, and spritzed it. Then laid the glossy paper on top of it again. I love this. You could do it in various colors, which would have been fantastic, but I wanted the color to focus on my hibiscus flower.
I did flower was done with the stipple method. So easy. I first embossed my flower onto some vellum with black embossing powder. Then I colored the flower with the softest pink color in my Rock Garden Set. Then I took a darker color and put some color in the center. I then took another one of the colors and put dots all over the colors. It was causing them to blend almost like a watercolor effect. So pretty. I did the same variations with the leaves.
What a fun card. My sentiment is from a Pink Fresh Studios set called Miss your Smile.
I must say one thing here; I have learned to love the Altenew alcohol markers. I was using another brand, and they did not have the color coordination that these do. It so helps when you have the right tools to do the job. It is a real game changer. Here I thought I was just terrible at coloring with alcohol markers.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card. There is just one more class before I do my Altenew level two challenge. Whew!! What a ride it has been.
