Welcome to NC Demo’s Blog hop for February. The theme this month is bugs/insects. I wanted to do the Honey Bee bundle, but I am sure most will do this one. It is a great choice. So I decided to use my Painted Poppies to create a bit of a twist and incorporate some other items from the annual catalog as well.
The Cards
These ideas have been all over pintrest with the Peaceful Poppies DSP as the star of the show. My first card shows this. I merely added Butterflies from the Butterfly Gala stamp set and cut them out with the Butterfly Duet punch. These butterflies have been colored with watercolor pencils and then gone over with Wink of Stella for a sparkly look. I also added regular rhinestones to my Butterflies. My Bee has been stamped from the Honey Bee set and cut out with the Detailed Bee dies. The bees are colored with the Crushed Curry, and Seaside Spray Stampin’ Write Marker.
The First Card
My Second Card
This card got started by Michelle Zindindorff. I love this card! Here is my take on her card.
I have been seriously infatuated with the sponging of the blues with the Poppies in the background I kept playing. I have done so many of these cards now that I need to reink all of my pads, Haha. Here is my favorite while adding some beautify butterflies and bees an entomologist dream. I am enamored at the way the Poppy Parade colored Poppy pops on this card. Viewing it in person is a whole another level. The Poppy looks like it is about to pop off the page into your hands.
I did several things are different here. First, I embossed my poppies instead of just using black Stazon or Tuxedo Momento ink. Then I added the butterflies covered with watercolor pencils and Wink of Stella just as I did in the first card.
The Painted Poppies bundle is such a hot ticket item it has already been backorder once. I was leary about doing this blog post because of that issue. The Painted Poppies bundle is now available again. However, if you are looking to get the Peaceful Poppies Suite (#153938), then that one is still unavailable at this time.
I hope you will join the rest of the NC Demo’s blog hop and see what all we are doing across North Carolina.
