Sea of Textures will be retiring in June. If you are a beachy, sea creature, and water lover like my husband is, then I suggest you get this one while you can. So fun for those water theme cards. I did a class with this set back when it first came out in the Annual Catty last year. Unfortunately, I did not blog on it, so I can not show it to you here. I know having stuff retire is very bittersweet for a demonstrator. Items that you love or enjoy working with get retired, but then you get the reward of seeing all the new exciting things coming to you a month early. Let me tell you in advance I have seen the catalog and you are gonna LOVE it.
I have been looking at doing something with these colors for quite some time. Yes, the colors are unusual with the Sea of Textures set, but I saw this beautiful flower for my color inspiration. My husband brought these home for me to love. We have never had any luck growing these in South Lousiana. I am hoping for a better chance here.
The Card
Just like the sentiment, the card is one of a kind. I think it turned out well. This card is very detailed, and it is all due to the dies in the Under the Sea dies. If you look at the die cuts pictured below, you will see how detailed they are. I will miss that about them. I used these a lot to make cards for those gentlemen that were seafarers with my husband when he worked offshore. He has not been overseas for over a year now and will not be returning. It is funny how life changes things on you. I am grateful for that. I could not imagine how it would be if he were out there right now. He was working overseas, and there are no crew changes at this time during the pandemic. So he could be out there with no medical help or having to sit inland in another country. For this, I am grateful.
The card is straightforward. The dies and the DSP do all the work here for you. You just need some adhesive, dimensionals, and some imagination. The one thing I did here that may not be noticeable is that I used watercolor paper scraps for some of my die cut coral. I used my aqua painters to color the watercolor paper with melon mambo and gorgeous grape. Once it was dry I diecut out my coral pieces.
I hope you enjoyed today’s look back at a good set that I will miss. If you want to order this and any of the other Last Chance items, I suggest you do so quickly because when they are gone, they are gone.
