Season Scene Building class with Altenew has been a severe refresher course for me. Lots of masking. Something I do not do very often. It is perfect for those one-layer cards that you want to mail without having to add additional funds to the card or worry about how to protect it while being shipped to the recipient.
My card for the Season Scene Building class is created with the Seas the Day bundle from Altenew. I wanted a watercolor technique for this card. Unfortunately, I messed it up when doing it. So I used a method from the Die Cutting class and cut out the messed-up background by partially cutting out my lighthouse. I then recreated the watercolor scene and cut the lighthouse out of the paper to pop my already created lighthouse into the sky. Doing this gave it an embossed diecut look. I love how it looks like it is standing in the middle of the water and sky.
My lovely lady wearing her windbreaker and hat watches over the lighthouse thinking of her sailer, hoping the lighthouse will guide him home. My husband used to work on ships and was often gone for long periods, so I understand the missing and watching out to sea, hoping he will come home safely.
My sand is a product of water coloring and adding a stamped image of little tiny dots in a darker ink to create the look.
In other news, my cast is off, and I am working on gaining my strength back. Unfortunately, I still have a splint for another week or so then only as needed. I had no idea how sore I would be. I hope you enjoyed the card for today. The supplies are listed below.
