“I hope every one has a very Happy Thanksgiving and finds that they have plenty to be thankful for. I know I sure do, I have a wonderful family. A nephew who has blessed me with two great nephews, a niece who will bless me with a new great nephew in March. 3 other nieces and another nephew that I get to watch grow. A wonderful daughter and son in law that have given me a granddaughter and two grandsons. I could not be happier. With that said, they would mean nothing without the best gift I have ever received. When my Donor Mom Irene said yes to organ donation and allowed Diana to become my organ donor and hero/angle. To her I owe everything, so thanks Irene for helping Diana find another window to look through. Happy Thanksgiving every one!”
Now onto some crafting fun. Check out these bookmarks and card with this new awesome technique.
Stenciling with Embossing powder looks like it could be a daunting task, but once you break it down it is not so scary after all. This became one amazing technique I will use over and over again.
One of our local scrapbook stores, (Scrappin Frenzzie) is closing soon, so my friend Lori and I decided to take a ride to see her and use our 10 dollar off coupons that we had. When I saw this Stencil and what one of the girls at the store did and I fell completely head over heals in love. I got all that stuff to do this and here is what I came up with for some happy winter book marks. I also am so in love with it I decided to do this one for my mom’s birthday card as well. I am sure she will love it. I love it so much I almost don’t want to send it to her.
Stamp/Ink/Embossing powder/Ribbon
- Six Sided sampler
- Lost Lagoon Classic Ink Pad
- Wow Embossing powders
- Vintage Jade
- Blue Blast glitter
- White pearl glitter
- Whisper White cardstock
- Self Adhesive Canvas
- Wild Wasabi Ribbon
Tools
- Heat Gun
- Stencil of trees
- Paper plate
- Scissors
- Scalloped Tag topper punch
- Petite Petals Punch
These are all uneven and not exactly the same size I know. After making them, I felt that the embossing powder would crack off the canvas without a backing of cardstock for support. Also my trimmer was not strong enough to get through the canvas so I had to resort to scissors. I now know that I need an X-acto knife to cut them evenly.
First place the stencil on the canvas use the Vintage Jade and a bit of the blue where you want it. Completely cover the exposed canvas. Once you have this done and dump the rest of the powder. Remove the stencil. Now use the White pearl embossing powder all over the rest of the canvas. Remove the rest of this color and put it back in the container. (this is why I use the paper plates. Makes clean up of each color a snap)
Once it is completely covered you now heat it till set. The result is FABULOUS!! A wonderful fun happy and chilly winter scene.
I cut these down to about 2 in wide and about 6 in long. I also cut card stock to match up with the canvas and adhered them together. Then punching at the top with the scalloped tag topper punch then treading ribbon through. I also punched out a flower from the petite petal punch and stamped it with the “hello sweet friend” stamp. It is from the six sided sampler set in Lost Lagoon. Then I used the dauber to give the flower some color.
Now for the Birthday Card. It was as much fun to do as the bookmarks. I did not cut the scene up too much for this one. Just trimming the edges so that it would fit on my standard card. (4.25 x 5.5) Now I saved just a little of the 6×6 stenciled canvas to put on the inside. I think it came out awesome. I don’t really want to send it to my mom, but I guess since she has put up with me that is the least I can do for her 66th birthday. Happy Birthday Mom!!! I love you! I hope you enjoy your card as much as I loved making it.
