I competed with Team LA in the Transplant Games of America this year. As most of you know I am a heart transplant patient of almost 20 years. I competed in the 5k cycling and the 5k walk. I will say I will never do the walk again. I hurt so much in my hips after that. I do not do long distance walking well at all.
I chose cycling, since it was something that I was not able to do as a child unless I was on a Tandem with someone else doing the pedaling for me. I wanted to do this on my own so badly as a kid but my heart was too weak to withstand that kind of exertion. Well once I was transplanted things changed for me. When I was asked by Team Louisiana to join their team I could not help but think about cycling on that bike. I joined the team and the training began.
Now on to some crafting. As a way to Thank our sponsors I sent out these Louisiana themed Thank you cards.
Team LA and the Transplant Games of America Thank you Cards these Thank you cards are a mixed media and not all Stampin’ Up! materials but they came out beautifully, and full of Louisiana Spirit. Mardi Gras colors and all. I used a crayon technique on these to get the background. Printed the team logo on some card stock and rounded it with the envelope punch board on the corners. I was given some glitter foam board (thanks Leslie) and cut that into banner shapes since it was too thick to cut out with my Big Shot. I cut out mini circles and colored them with metallic paint for each of the medal colors (gold, silver, and bronze). I learned that it is better to color the paper first then cut out your circles. Saves time and mess. The Thank yous were cut out with the Cricut, fusing the letters together so it came out into two words while using the Craft Room Basics. Here is a close up of the card.
