Do you have a Woodland embossing folder? If you do not have the Woodlands Textured Embossing folder yet, you need to get one. This little beauty is good for just about anything. Here is another example I saw on one of the various emails that I get. I just had to try it too. I loved it so much I entered another one into the Colour INKspiration Challenge #C42. The Colors were Mint Macaroon, Basic Black, Whisper White, and Copper.
I found this challenge very hard as it has black in it and I do not like dark colors very much, also my brain does not associate black with any soft colors such as mint macaron. The combination just does not seem likely to me. Below you will find the card that I submitted. I am happy to say I was in the top 5.
I have a few clients who are dying to learn how to do this technique. I taught a class on Thursday the 25th with the technique on how to do this.
- You are going to select your embossing folder and brayer or roll ink on the negative side of the embossing folder. With this one, it is the side with Sizzix on it.
- After coloring, you are going to place your cut cardstock on the opposite side before closing. Keep closed and from moving the entire time until after it is rolled through the bigshot. (Pre-cut your cardstock to what you want it to be before you emboss it.)
- Then run through the big shot one or two times. If you feel it is not enough you can take a clean brayer and roll it over the folder before removing it.
- That is it. now you have your perfect background.
There are so many other ways to do this particular technique. I have seen folks stamp images on the folder before running it through as well. I have not tried this with much success. It is still a rather cool thought though. For the card with Thinking of you, sentiment came from the Colorful Seasons stamp set.
For the one below I used Sahara Sand ink and cardstock, Soft Suede ink, whisper white cardstock, and copper glimmer paper from Joyous Noel DSP. I used the Thank you from the Daisy Delight stamp set. The little pieces of glimmer on the card came from the cutout pieces from the leaves. Why waist shiny sparkly paper?
