April showers bring May flowers. Here is hoping that the current situation in the world quickly passes and we can get back to a normal rhythm. This month’s North Carolina Blog hop is about spring, so let me kick it off with some little ducks. Thank you for hopping along with us. My NC Blog hop this month could be a Mother’s Day card or any occasion. It reminds me of Spring.
I paired one of my favorites with the Under my Umbrella bundle. I must say I am pretty impressed with how it came out. Oh, how I love these Fable Friends, my favorite. I was hoping they would not retire in June because I love them so. They are the perfect spring set. We have ducks, bunnies, and squirrels. Some wonderful sentiments as well.
Being in The Crafty Cottage has been wonderful. I was able to start this card the day before using the Under My Umbrella set and leave it to dry overnight. I forgot how much I missed that ability. When crafting in the Tiny house the thought of leaving stuff out meant that you may or may not have the critters eat it, put paw prints on it, or end up with coffee/food stains on it. Then your project is ruined. Well, not this time!!
The Card
I started with the ducks stamped on some So Saffron cardstock, then colored my ducks. I fussy cut them out leaving them attached at the bottom. I also stamped the larger momma duck on some Lily Impressions DSP from the Salebration items and then fussy cut out just the raincoat and hat. I also punched out the umbrella top from the Under My Umbrella punch in the same DSP.
I layered the bottom of the so saffron cardstock with old olive vellum from Perennial Essence Vellum cut with the special day dies.
My background is stamped with the raindrops from the Under my umbrella set on whisper white and then I used a fine tip glue to put clear drops over the raindrops. This had to dry overnight before I could add the sponged color in the background. I simply sponged Pool Party on the bottom and Balmy Blue on the top part after it was all dry.
I stamped my Sentiment in Rich Razzleberry from the Under My Umbrella set and cut it out using the Ornate Frames. I added a touch of bling to the ends from the Ornate Garden suite. These are called Gilded Gems from the Ornate Garden suite.
Measurements
- Rich Razzleberry – 11 x 4 1/4 inches (base scored at 5 1/5)
- Whisper White – 5 1/4 x 4 inches (for your raindrops and background)
- So Saffron – 5 1/4 x 4 inches ( stamp your Ducks on this and fussy cut them out)
- Perrenial Essence Vellum – 5 1/4 x 3/4 (use this for your grass at the ducks’ feet)
- Lily Impressions DSP scrap – Enough for your umbrella, hat, and raincoat.
- Whisper White Scrap – for your sentiment.
