I wanted to do a Christmas card for you in July with the Winter Woods set but I did not quite get the card finished. I had the prototype was completed but I was not happy with it. So I had to do another. The grandkids and lack of counter space to work kinda put a damper on that for a bit. I am happy to say that I got a storage cabinet that has a bit of counter space for me to use.
This thing is made as a console table but only 14.5 inches deep so that it fits well in the Tiny House. This has allowed me to breathe and get some work done. I created today’s card again and worked on several others for you. I have ordered my preorder from the new Holiday Catalog and I can not wait to show it to you. The excitement builds.
On another note, my dogs ate the backboard that I use to take pictures of my cards on. So I had to improvise on the photos till I can get another board. Check out their work below.
Check out this Winter Woods card I did. Makes me get a chill just looking at it. This stamp set is still in the annual catalog and can still be ordered. I got the idea from two different pins on pintrest. The first one was from Lavender Thoughts I did not have the swirly frames so I came up with the rectangles stitched dies. Then the color choices came from Stampin Scrapper is where I got my color choices from.
The steps to do this card were simple. I did an embossed resist technique and used the stamparatus for the background. I used a sponge, Balmy Blue, Smoky Slate, and Night of Navy for the background colors before stamping them with the birch trees from the Winter Woods stamp set. I used whisper white cardstock measuring 5 3/8 x 4 1/8. Blending from the lightest shade to the darkest shade. I paid close attention to the Night of Navy at the top is dark.
I then stamped with the Stamparatus using the Hinged technique which you can see the video here if you are viewing from an email or see it below. Here is how it looks after the stamping. I used Early Espresso ink for the Birch Trees.
For the front of my card, I stamped the trees from the Winter Woods stamp set on a piece of whisper white measuring 4 1/8 x 2 7/8 with VersaMark. I used white embossing powder and heat set. Yes, my trees look a little sparkly but that is because some white glitter found its way into my white embossing powder. I then used the same colors to sponge them on to the cardstock to match the background that I have already created.
For the snow, I ripped pieces of whisper white and layered it with the two pieces together
Once layered I trimmed it off. I then used a touch of balmy blue and smoky slate sponge on it. I then used a retired item of iridescent ice on the snow. There is a new product coming in the new Holiday Catalog that will work perfectly for the snow I can’t wait to show you them Shimmery Crystal Effects and Ice Stampin’ Glitter.
I did not have the Swirly frames so I used the 3rd and 4th largest Stitched Rectangles dies to cut a piece of Silver foil for the frame. Placing it atop of the whole card with the mini dimentionals. Framing the beautiful whisper white embossed trees. The sentiment came from the Itty Bitty Greeting set. I used the classic label punch and dimentionals to place it on the card.
I put the whole thing on a card base of Smoky Slate measuring 11 x 4 1/4 scored at 5 1/2.
